An airplane normally has two wings of course. But some planes have four wings in two layers, and are known as biplanes. ‘bi’ simply means ‘two’, as in bicycle, bilingual or binoculars.
And a plane with six wings (three layers) in called a triplane. ‘tri’ means ‘three’ as in trio, triple, and trillion. It doesn’t look the safest plane to me, but the one in the picture, which was taken last week, is almost 100 years old.
And it’s English!
