In 2012 the Olympics will be held in my hometown, London. It will be the first time that a city hosts the Olympics for the third time (London also hosted the Olympics in 1908 and 1948), and this is the logo that has been designed. What do you think of it?
People don’t see it, it’s a great logo, and I love it. It stands out, it’s cocky and edgy, it’s youthful and it’s got attitude, it’s not just a boring variation on the same thing as always.
A lot of people with no understanding of graphic design, who haven’t seen the logo together with the rest of the brand package and the things they can do with it, are making us graphic designers laugh at their ignorance, a lot.

I’ve got a feeling that if you rearrange the shapes then you can make a few other illustrations.

It has nothing to do with the UK, England or London… The second “2” doesn’t even look as a “2”…

I fully agree about the ‘2’.
But I think the shapes of the numbers are supposed to represent the outline of the British Isles???
