Vancouver is a vibrant city in the province of British Columbia in the west of Canada. The population of Vancouver city is a little over 600,000 (less than Shizuoka city), but including the nearby suburbs and cities the population rises to more than 2,000,000 (2 million).
In many surveys it is thought to be one of the best cities in the world. The 2010 Winter Olympics will be held in Vancouver and the neighbouring city of Whistler.
Vancouver is also famous for its fireworks.
