This is an amazing photo of an amazing island, Ko Phi Phi Don. The sea on the left of the photo is extremely deep, and this is the side that boats enter, and the sea on the right is incredibly shallow, in fact you can walk about 200m and the water is still only up to your waist!

This island is in Thailand, a bit of a tourist resort, and about 700 people perished when the tsunami hit a few years ago.
The island is in fact limestone and is not of volcanic origin. It is quite a strange shape and has a very interesting neighbour which is home to a culinary delicacy. I will report in a future post.
