Machu Picchu in Peru was built around the year 1450, but abandoned a hundred years later, at the time of the Spanish invasion. It is 2,430 meters above sea level and is often referred to as “The Lost City of the Incas”.
Machu Picchu is now a tourist attraction and about 400,000 people visited the site last year.

I hope so, but it remains my biggest travel wish to visit this place.

I’ve heard they are going to limit the number of tourists soon because of the (most of the time unwitting) damage.
