Dive into the ocean from your living room

In the South Pacific ocean are the Kiribati (pronounced Kiribas) Islands.

Here is a Kiribati house which is right on the edge of the beach and the ocean, what a place to live. I wonder where these people would like to go for their holidays?

Looks good, but a sign of bad weather to come

Stratocumulus cloud is a layer of wavy clouds. It is not so high in the sky, and can make the day feel overcast, but does not usually bring rain.

However it often comes at the front of bad weather. Following behind the straocumulus may be some thunderstorms or strong winds

Diagonal cloud

A cloud mountain

Stratus cloud can range from dark grey to white. It is not so high in the sky, but does not usually bring rain. However it makes the day seem dark and gloomy.

The word ’stratus’ comes from Latin, and simply means ‘layer’ or ‘blanket’. Sometimes stratus cloud can perform an amazing effect as in the photo above.

Limestone cliffs

Nice place for a house

If you ever wondered where the chalk that is used on blackboards is from then look at the photo above.

This is a long limestone (chalk) cliff known as the Seven Sisters, which is on the Hampshire coast in the south of England. It is in places like these that enough chalk for all your classes can be found.

To anyone who thought that the only animals which can fly are birds, insects and bats, there is one more species to add: the Chinese air force.
